Tughlaqabad is the Third City out of the Seven Cities of Delhi. The first one is the Lal Kot founded by Anangpal I the Tomar ruler in the year of 731 AD which was captured by the Chahamana (Chauhan) kings of Ajmer in 1180 AD and renamed it Qila Rai Pithora. The Chauhan king Prithviraj III was defeated in 1192 AD by Mu’izz ad-Din Muhammad Ghori or Muhammad Ghori. The defeat of Prithviraj Chauhan ushered in a new era of Muslim Rule in India. Siri fort, built by Alauddin Khalji was the second city of Delhi and Tughlaqabad was the third one. Mighty as it is, Tughlaqabad Fort was built in record time of 4 years by Ghazi Malik a.k.a. Ghiyas-ud-din Tughluq the military commander of Alaudin Khilji and the founder of Tughlaq dynasty.
